Writing Mini Offices
During our writing time,(journal writing, Writing from the Heart and Adventures in Writing), students will be able to use a mini office as a reference tool.  The mini office shows numbers, number words, color words, letters, blends, right and left, high frequency words, family words and a writing checklist.
Mini-Office How-To's

Materials:
2 File Folders per Office
Clear Packing Tape
Glue--I used rubber cement and spray adhesive
Assorted alphabets, graphics, color words, word wall words,
any resources your students would use
Laminating Film and Laminator

1.  Lay file folders on table with inside up.  Overlap the 2 inside flaps and tape seam.  Turn over and tape outside seam.
(This will give you a 3 sided mini office.)

2.  Design your mini office to meet the needs of your students.
Follow the links to the resources I used:

Letter Chart
Writing Checklist
Teaching Heart.net Mini Office Page
First Grade Word List
Family Words(Microsoft Word Document)

3.  Glue the charts on the folders, using whatever glue you choose.  I added foam hand cut-outs for my left and right hands to add some color.

4.  Laminate the folders for durability.
